Enough is enough

We agree with Christopher Luxon, “Enough is enough. Aucklanders desperately need confidence, certainty and hope” (Times, November 24).

As our representative in Parliament, we hope he will find ways to do exactly that, rather than continuing to document “countless devastating stories”.

We would rather hear more about his policy solutions “that could be implemented overnight”, their impacts, long-term consequences and how he thinks they would affect us both personally and collectively – something for all of us to hope for.

We can’t expect certainty from Covid or the Climate, but we certainly expect confidence and hope from our leaders.

With his corporate background, Mr Luxon, no doubt, understands the need to navigate change.

The new normal we are experiencing calls [on] leaders to shift from promises of ‘certainty’ to interdependent actions that give hope and build resilience.

What a great opportunity for Mr Luxon to redefine the ethos of the Opposition from one that lays blame, to one that strengthens us as a people working together.

This would give us confidence in our governance system giving us certainty of positive, esteem-building behaviours that respect diversity and buoy us with hope.
