Despite the slow national business environment, positive activity in Howick Village continues with commercial premises never empty for long.

Recently the Village has welcomed Expert Barbers, Growing Younger Fitness Studio, Louis & Max, Mankelow Accountants, Ray of Light Coaching and Sky Nails & Beauty.

Based on their respective social media posts, we can look forward to the openings of Despensa (a Mexican-themed restaurant) and Posto (specialising in Neapolitan style woodfire pizzas) in October.

MTF Finance are also in the process of setting up shop in the Village.

A very warm welcome to all these businesses and I am sure Howickians, and those from further afield, will give these plenty of support.

The main activity for October in this Saturday, October 7, being the Star Insure Howick Village Hop.

As with previous years, this is certainly an event not to be missed. Picton Street will be closed with more than 200 hot rods and classic cars on display.

Entertainment and many other activities will also be happening. Come on down and enjoy the occasion.

The annual Howick Rotary Bookarama, which has been supported by many local businesses, is being held from October 4-8.

All funds raised are utilised by the club in charitable activities.

November activities planned are the Howick Village Community Wellness Expo on November 4, the East FM Vinyl sale in the War Memorial Building on November 8 and the Howick Village Christmas Fair on November 17.

The investment made by the Howick Village Association in security cameras in the Village has again proven to be worthwhile.

The perpetrators of two recent incidents involving significant theft and vandalism were able to be clearly identified and that evidence handed to our local police to assist with their enquiries.

Whilst we would rather this be a ‘passive’ investment, it is pleasing to know that these are achieving tangible results and assisting with tangible outcomes.

Let’s continue to support local!

Cheers,

Gerald Patterson
Deputy Chair Howick Village Association
