Crossing controversy

At the public meeting re the proposed pedestrian crossing on Pakuranga Road, Auckland Transport manager Michael Brown stated that while existing crossings were 300m and 500m away, people would not walk that far to cross over.

Does that mean we will end up with a crossing every 500m?

Furthermore, if people are stupid enough to cross Pakuranga Road in an unsafe manner, perhaps we are better off without them.
