Who mows the berms?

LOOKING AFTER OUR TREES

Council’s arborists have been busy over recent weeks. Two large dead/declining trees overhanging the road at Shepherds Lane in Flat Bush, and two dangerously leaning pine trees in the Burswood Drive pine stand have been removed.

There has been ongoing maintenance of blocks of street trees in Half Moon Bay, and general maintenance of trees throughout the area, alongside the attendance of requests made by members of the public. In October alone, 750 street trees were pruned and 23 new trees planted.

SO WHO MOWS THE BERMS?

Board members and council staff are regularly asked by residents why their berms (the grass strips at the roadside outside your house) are not being mowed. It is the responsibility of the home owner to mow these and keep them tidy.

A SAFE SUMMER

New Zealand is a great place to enjoy summer. Our beautiful beaches and parks are popular locations for family get-togethers. Visit the Auckland Council website www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz and enter ‘find a beach or park’ for information on our local beaches, parks and ideas for great walks.

We want our holiday memories are happy ones! Stay mindful of your safety and that of others. Follow the road safety rules we are all familiar with, and act responsibly around water to enjoy your holiday activities without mishap.

FAREWELL 2020

There will be many who will be happy to see the end of 2020. It has certainly been ‘one out of the box.’ Local Board members will shortly take a much needed and well deserved break, with our workshops resuming at the end of January 2021.

Our Local Board office will be closed from December 18 to January 18, 2021. For any urgent matters please call Council’s Call Centre Ph: 09 3010101.
I wish you a safe, enjoyable and blessed Christmas – and good health and happy times in 2021!
