The message was read to guests at the Howick & Districts 175th Anniversary Celebration luncheon at the Howick Pakuranga Community Sports Centre by Howick Ward Councillors Maurice Williamson and Sharon Stewart

It is my pleasure to acknowledge and extend a warm welcome to everyone attending Howick 175th anniversary luncheon today.

The 175th anniversary is an extraordinary milestone and tributes are due to the people – past and present, for so ably contributing to Auckland’s record of achievement.

What a great opportunity to celebrate the local history and the community coming together as one to commemorate. Howick is one of Auckland’s most multicultural wards and home to people from all over the world.

Events such as these celebrate the cultures and traditions that make Auckland so unique.

As you take this moment to reflect on your 175 years past and prepare for the future, please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable event and continued success.

Yours sincerely,

Wayne Brown
Mayor of Auckland
