The hunting memorabilia is going up for auction

The new team at The Five Stags have big plans for the Whitford local, including a new name and full makeover.

The doors will be closing for four weeks on June 29 for the refit but there’s a lot of stuff to find a home for before then. They say it’s time to call in the auctioneers.

New owner Patrick Shields is looking forward to the event.

“Many of our regulars have a soft spot for our hunting memorabilia and were keen to know what was going to happen to it when we rebranded.

“An auction gives everyone the opportunity to take something home but it’s also a fun way for us to kick off the exciting changes that will be taking place over the next few months and we get to raise a few dollars for charity at the same time. It’ll be a great night.”

The auction on Saturday,  June 15 will be hosted by experienced auctioneer Phillip Bensemann and the first lot goes under the hammer at 7.30pm. Those wishing to browse the items can either pop into The Five Stags over the next week and pick up a leaflet or visit www.allaboutauctions.co.nz.

Some items will have reserve prices and those wishing to make a bid will have to be there in person – no pre-auction bids will be accepted.

Donations from the auction will be given to both St John’s Ambulance and The Stroke Foundation.

Due to anticipated numbers attending the event there will be a limited food service during the evening.

The Five Stags closes on June 29 and will reopen as The Stables Whitford on August 1.
