A successful east Auckland croquet club has got its hands on yet more silverware.

The Howick Croquet Club (HCC) recently beat a team from St Heliers Croquet Club to claim the ‘Bradley Tray’ plate.

HCC secretary Vanessa Baddock says the competition takes place annually with each club taking turns to play host.

This year the Howick team hosted its opposition on April 26.

“Howick were the clear winners of the Bradley Tray, winning 14 of the 21 games played,” Baddock says.

“Everybody played five games during the day, three doubles (with a different partner each game) and two singles.

“St Heliers Croquet club members commented that everybody was so friendly.

“We always make visitors feel very welcome, whether they are from another club, playing in a tournament or a visitor who is coming along to ‘have a go at croquet’.”

Baddock invites all east Auckland locals who are interested in having a go at croquet to visit the club at 67 Millhouse Drive, Northpark.
