As we progress through what has been a very wet winter (and year to date), it seems an appropriate time to remind everyone of what the Howick Village Association (HVA) and the businesses of Howick Village have been achieving to date.

Throughout the month of July, the HVA invited the public of Howick and visitors to the village to partake in their mid-winter “Shop and Win”.

Participating businesses (with signage in their windows) have been collecting customer receipts and placing them in the draw at the end of this month to win great prizes including a wine tour for four people, on Waiheke Island, and packages to enjoy our village cafes and restaurants.

Past promotions of this nature have seen extensive support from the community with many great prizes.

The iconic Saturday morning market in Howick Village has been going from strength to strength.

Saturday mornings see the village really buzzing with people out to enjoy the wide range of stallholders on display.

Be it ceramic to crepes, cheeses to chocolate, falafels to flowers, pretzels to pot plants and so much in between, you will find it at the market.

The vibrancy of the market was truly demonstrated on July 15 when the market celebrated Bastille Day.

With blue, white and red flags and bunting abundant, buskers beating out the music and stallholders getting into the tricolour spirit, it was a day to be remembered.

The market has been celebrating Bastille Day for a few years now with the intent of giving the market a distinctly French flavour for the day.

We will continue to look at different themed promotions in the market for the future.

You may have noted we have a few vacant buildings in and around Howick Village at the moment.

Unlike many other shopping precincts in Auckland, we have maintained a predominantly fully occupied business area throughout Covid lockdowns to the present.

We are working hard to assist landlords to get these vacancies occupied and maintain Howick Village as the greatest little village in New Zealand.

Your continued support for our businesses is never taken for granted and is essential in maintaining our village.
