Commonwealth Games: HPK heads to finals

Three Howick Pakuranga Swim Club (HPK) athletes could be in medal contention in the Commonwealth Games swimming finals tonight.

Former Macleans College student Corey Main is set to compete in the Men’s 100m and 200m backstroke finals while fellow HPK swimmer Daniel Hunter will compete in the Men’s 50m butterfly final.  Hunter will also swim as part of the Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay team which placed first in their heat earlier today with a time of 3:17:96.

HPK paralympian Tupou Neuifi placed sixth in her Women’s S9 100m backstroke heat earlier today and qualified to move into the next round with a time of 1:18:08

 

UPDATES:

9:40pm Daniel Hunter has placed fifth in the Men’s 50m Butterfly final. South Africa (first and third) and Trinidad and Tobago (second) claimed the podium places.

10:50pm Paralympian Tupou Neiufi  placed sixth in the Women’s S9 100m backstroke with a time of 1:17:10.
