Steph Skilton and Brody Cleave tied the knot in a very unusual and public way this morning in Matakana.

Beachlands couple Steph Skilton and Brody Cleave had a wedding with a difference early yesterday.

They won a competition – WeddingTossers – with radio station The Edge giving them a free wedding and a honeymoon in Bora Bora in French Polynesia – but there was a tiny catch… the wedding proceedings were dictated on the flip of a coin.

The couple had several losses with the coin flip shared on air each morning before the wedding. Instead of a horse and carriage, Steph’s arrival was by Zorb (with water); instead of a wedding dress she had to wear a grim reaper outfit; instead of confetti they got spaghetti. You get the picture.

The wedding was in Matakana yesterday morning and was broadcast live.

Skilton is a Football Fern and was based in New York with Syracuse University. Skilton has competed at the U17 World Cup (2010), U20 World Cup (2012), U20 World Cup (2014), along with the New Zealand Women’s National team in Cyprus, Brazil, America, and New Zealand.

Cleave is a chiropractor in Howick. He has played sport has played at a high-level representing Auckland for rugby at a young age, New Zealand AFL and represented Oceania in the U18 Australian National Championships.

In a recent Facebook post Skilton wrote wrote: “Can’t wait to marry you Brody Cleave  – there’s not a day where I’m not smiling and laughing with you!”
