Pakuranga MP Simeon Brown says he is saddened by the news that a Labour, Greens and NZ First arrangement will form the new government.

Simeon Brown, MP for Pakuranga says he is disappointed with last night’s announcement  that a Labour/NZ First/Green arrangement will form the new government.

“I’m saddened by the decision made last night, which means that even after winning the largest share of the vote in the 2017 election, National is unable to form a government,” says Mr Brown.

“I truly believed that the best way forward for New Zealand was to continue with a Bill English-led National government, and Pakuranga agreed, with 61.7% of the party vote going towards National. I want to wish Jacinda Ardern and her new coalition all the best, as their success, is New Zealand’s success.

“Regardless of who was going to be in charge, I am committed to being the best Member of Parliament I can be for the people of Pakuranga, and now more than ever I am looking forward to the next three years.

“Representing the Pakuranga electorate will always be my first priority, and I’m grateful for the support I received in being elected as the new MP for this fantastic area.”
