Summer bodies are made in the winter  – or so the saying goes – so as the weather gets colder, now is the perfect time to think about moving your workout indoors for the chilly months ahead.

If you’ve been thinking about getting back into the gym- or even if you’ve never stepped foot in one before – Les Mills Howick is offering the perfect chance to check out what it’s all about.

Located in the heart of Somerville, Les Mills is opening its doors to the general public this Saturday to experience all the world-class facilities and group fitness classes it has to offer.

Having recently undergone a three million dollar renovation, there’s no better time to catch a glance of the flash new interior.

The renovations include three group fitness studios, including the CHAIN cycle studio which offers a range of instructor led and virtual classes for those who prefer to ride their way to health.

From 7am-7pm this Saturday, there’s something on offer for everyone. For those who prefer the social aspect of working out in the gym, there are 15 classes on offer throughout the day with options to suit people of all abilities.

Those who choose a GRIT® Strength class will be put through their paces in 30 minutes of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout using barbell, weight plate and body plate exercises to blast all major muscle groups.

Those looking for a longer workout can test their endurance with a 60 minute BODYSTEP® workout where the only equipment is a height-adjustable step. The movements are simple but the results are strong – one BODYSTEP® class can burn up to 620 calories.

Looking for flexibility, strength and inner calm? BODYBALANCE® is for you. The Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates workout will leave you feeling calm and centered. With controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses, you’ll build strength and flexibility as you bring your body into a state of harmony and balance.

If group fitness isn’t your thing, head in to check out the new and improved workout floor. The combined weights and cardio area offers $300,000 worth of new equipment along with a dedicated free weights area and plenty of space to do your own thing.
