I belong to a local tennis club and along with my fellow members take great pride in the upkeep and presentation of our courts, clubhouse and surrounding property. This has been recognised by Tennis Auckland in a number of awards, including in 2021/22, Club of the Year.
How galling it is therefore that every week we have to put up with the dumping of rubbish in our car park beside a container seeking clothing donations.
The accompanying photo is indicative but there have been far worse – large items of furniture, computer desks and double bed mattresses have all appeared, one week even a toilet bowl.
It is not as if there is no alternative for these ignorant individuals. A call to council to arrange an inorganic collection from their own home is a simple matter and often at no cost.
