A 21-year-old man who was arrested in a large-scale dope bust in East Tamaki was remanded on bail on charges of cultivating cannabis and obstructing police.

A large-scale police operation which netted around 150 cannabis plants overnight Christmas Eve will see a young man before the courts again next month.

Counties Manukau Police made the bust in East Tamaki.

The Times received a report on Christmas Day of armed police on Smales Rd between Shrule Place and Kellaway Drive that morning.

“The officers seen at the property…would’ve likely been the scene guard that was in place until detectives arrived,” a police spokesperson said.

Police confirmed a 21-year-old man was remanded on bail when he appeared in Manukau District Court on December 26 on charges of cultivating cannabis and obstructing police. He will appear in court again on January 18.
