Police: Alleged car thief nabbed

Counties Manukau Police on night shift staff caught an offender who was breaking into a car in Howick on Monday.

“Our officers who were on a patrol when they saw a man in the process of breaking into a car,” a spokesperson said.

“They swiftly arrested the man and took him into custody. The man allegedly had a number of instruments and tools on him used to break into vehicles.”

A 26-year-old faces multiple charges including attempted unlawful taking, theft ex-car and possession of instruments for conversion and was due to appear in the Manukau District Court this week.
