A luxury home in Whitford is due to go under the hammer at auction with a reserve price of just $1 as it’s listed for sale “by an owner who desired a sale yesterday”.
The property in Potts Road is being marketed by agent Jay Singh of Ray White Manurewa as “Whitford’s first and only $1 reserve”.
The advert for the property states it’s a home of “exceptional design in one of Auckland’s most coveted lifestyle locations”.
It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, three living areas and two ensuites, as well as two-car garage parking and off-street parking space for six vehicles.
“Boasting a striking architectural style, this solidly constructed residence captures breathtaking water views over the peninsula, with only the equine trail between you and the serene coastal outlook,” the listing states.
“Positioned on 1.98 hectares of versatile land, it offers the perfect balance of privacy, space, and luxury.
“A substantial residence able to cater for a wide array of families, the home offers a total of four bedrooms in the main home, two of which are master bedrooms, along with a separate wing that offers a versatile space the current owner had previously used as a self-contained art studio.
“Beyond the home, an extraordinary addition awaits – a high-spec shed with dual office rooms, and a bathroom, built at a cost of approximately half a million dollars.
“Ideal for car enthusiasts, storage, or those potentially seeking a premium work-from-home setup, this space is as versatile as it is valuable.”
Singh says his branch probably does more $1 reserve auctions than any other.
“We do quite a few of them, but typically they happen on properties of a lower price bracket.
“Properties in Whitford range in price from $2.5 million up to $18m or $20m, but this property is beautiful home, it’s a standout.”
Buyers for properties in Whitford tend to live in east Auckland already, Singh says.
He expects whoever buys the Potts Road home to potentially be local also.
“There’s been a lot of buyers from the wider east Auckland area as well as central, but we do have a couple of groups from the wider south Auckland area who have shown their interest with the property as well.”
And he says it’s always possible a property may sell prior to its scheduled auction date.
“We always market a property ‘unless sold prior’, but it’s largely going to depend on the purchases and the interest and offers that come through prior.”
The property is due to be auctioned on-site on April 27.
