Saturday May 1 marked the dawn of a new era for the newest parish of Auckland – the Parish of St Luke’s, Flat Bush.

“Our journey began 14 years ago in a little chapel within the premises of Sancta Maria College in Flat Bush,” Parish Priest Craig Dunford said.

The new church was dedicated and blessed by Bishop Patrick Dunn and his Auxiliary, Bishop Michael Gielen.

Father Craig was accompanied by Fr Ezio Blasoni SM who was the original priest for the community of St. Luke.

They were supported by other priests of the Diocese and a huge congregation.

Father Craig estimated some 1500 people attended the celebrations on Saturday.

“It was a great celebration for the parish and also for the area of Flat Bush,” Father Craig said.

“Everyone enjoyed the celebrations.”
