BDSC win baseball champs

The New Zealand Secondary School Junior Baseball Championships were held this week at Lloyd Elsmore Park.

In the final, One Tree Hill College made things interesting early on by scoring first and playing great defence, but Botany Downs Secondary College proved to be too strong as they came back and won 12-2 to claim their second consecutive championship.

Taylor Irwin pitched 3 innings and gave up 1 run on 3 hits to go with 9 strikeouts to earn top pitcher and MVP honours and Ryan Houghton had a triple and 3 RBI in their victory.

Auckland Grammar School claimed 3rd place by defeating Glendowie College 11-1.
