I hear that the newly-merged polytechnics organisation is telling their people not to use English words like “staff”, “student” and even “Treaty of Waitangi” but to use the Maori words instead, and there was me thinking that English was still an official language in New Zealand. Although interestingly if you Google “Official languages of New Zealand” English only comes up second.
