Heritage lost

Slowly but surely we are having our heritage eroded away from under our feet.

I am stumped as to why large mature pohutakawa are being chopped down.

These trees are not only beautiful but are environmentally valuable, particularly on our coastal cliffs and reserves. I was horrified and saddened to see this mature pohutakawa had been chopped on Compass Point recently.

Interesting to note that the stump had ‘disappeared’ later the same day. Why are we allowing people to fell mature natives?

Anything goes under Auckland’s Unitary Plan it seems.
