A person has been injured after falling down the cliff at Musick Point in Bucklands Beach today, June 2.

The Times understands the woman fell onto rocks and was airlifted to hospital by the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The incident was also attended by police and firefighters from the Howick and Mount Wellington stations.

It was reported to Fire and Emergency NZ at about 3.55pm.

A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John says the organisation responded to the scene with one ambulance, one rapid response unit, one manager and one helicopter.

Paramedics assessed the woman and she was flown to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.

Howick Local Board member Bruce Kendall, who lives in Buckland Beach Road, says: “I know when someone has gone off the cliff because of the kind of vehicles that scream past my place.

“When you see a whole lot of ambulances and fire trucks, you know it’s someone off the cliff.

“Apparently it’s the second person this year and the fourth in 18 months.

“I grew up around this area and as a kid we played around those cliffs and they terrified me.

“They are so dangerous. They’re just sandstone you can’t climb it, it’s super dangerous.

“There used to be lots of signage around the cliff and I don’t think there’s enough.”
