A fire located adjacent to Birch Park Lane (near Mangemangeroa reserve) broke out at 12:48 pm on January 30
Fire & Emergency Northern advised the fire is now contained and covered an area of gully some 100m x 600m wide.
A property was briefly threatened, and a helicopter with monsoon bucket was called into assist-but not ultimately used
Five fire crews remain at the scene as of this afternoon, dampening down hotspots
There were no reports of injuries or associated traffic issues.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
