The six World War II Royal Navy medals have the name W. Goldsworthy on them. A trumpet was also stolen.

Local resident Kate Strawbridge is hoping the public can help recover stolen war medals and an antique trumpet.

Strawbridge has gone to police and has also solicited the help of friends on social media in a bid to get the stolen items back.

“We live on Redoubt Rd and the burglary happened in broad daylight in the middle of the day,” she said.

“I would really love to get these thing back.

“On Friday (May 17) we had our home burgled and my husband’s grandfather’s medals and his 1914 Boosey and Co Class A trumpet was stolen. It has very distinguishing engraving of a floral design.

“The six World War II Royal Navy medals have the name W. Goldsworthy on them. A diary kept by Mark’s grandfather while he was in the warships was also stolen.

“They also took all of my jewellery and some other bits and pieces.

“We believe they got interrupted as by our donkey as they only trashed our bedroom and the trumpet was in a display case as you enter our room.”

If anybody has seen or heard of any of these items, we would really appreciate you getting in touch.”

Police confirmed they have received a burglary report in which a number of items were taken from a Totara Park address.
