Vicious assault in Flat Bush

A man who asked youths at a neighbouring property to turn music down in the early hours of Saturday morning, was allegedly assaulted by up to five individuals, one of whom was armed with a fence pailing.

The man is believed to be 54-year old Albert Maynard.

Detective Senior Sergeant Richard O’Connor of the Counties Manukau CIB, issued the following statement

“Police have been investigating a serious assault that occurred on Shandon Street, Flat Bush at around 1am on Saturday.

The victim suffered a number of facial injuries as a result of the incident.

Police have been conducting a number of inquiries throughout the weekend.

Last night, Police arrested and charged an 18-year-old male with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear in the Manukau District Court today.

Our enquiries are continuing and we cannot rule out further charges being laid.”
