An east Auckland school was placed into lockdown as police worked to locate an allegedly stolen vehicle on Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for Counties Manukau Police says they received information relating to a reportedly stolen vehicle in the Botany area after 9am.

The vehicle was located near Botany Town Centre before 10am, he says.

“Police located three of the vehicle’s occupants nearby and took them into custody.

“A fourth occupant, believed to be a female, is currently outstanding.

“Botany Downs Secondary College was briefly placed into lockdown as a precaution while police conducted enquiries nearby.”

The lockdown has since been lifted, the spokesman says.

Police enquiries are continuing to locate the remaining occupant of the vehicle.
