Motorists and pedestrians were asked this afternoon to avoid the area around the Constellation Busway Station and Sunset Road on Auckland’s North Shore due to a bus fire.
Just after 1pm today, November 2, police were advised a bus had collided with the edge of an overpass as it passed under it.
“The bus has subsequently caught fire and there is a significant amount of smoke in the area,” police said just after 2pm.
“Cordons are being put in place and motorists and pedestrians are asked to follow the directions of emergency services staff.
“Nearby residents and businesses are also advised to close their doors and windows to prevent smoke getting inside their homes.”
