The Polish Museum in Howick was part of an official exhibition, ‘Journey of Hope 75 Years Pahiatua Children in New Zealand’, which was open on Krakowskie Przedmiescie Street in Warsaw, near the presidential palace. The exhibition, under the patronage of the President of Poland, was launched at an official function hosted by the New Zealand Embassy in Poland.

One of the large street-side panels features stunning photographs of Polish museum staff and founders, taken in Howick by Howick and Pakuranga Times photographer, Wayne Martin.

The Polish Museum celebrated 75 Years of the Polish children in New Zealand with the annual afternoon tea for families, including singing of the national anthems of Poland and New Zealand and a slideshow of images collected of the children’s arrival in 1944 with their caregivers, plus snapshots of their lives in New Zealand.
