Counties Manukau Police say they have made an arrest over the death of a man yesterday Tuesday morning.
Police say a homicide investigation was launched on May 6 after emergency services were called to a Mahia Road property in Manurewa just before 10am, following a report of a person being seriously injured.
Detective inspector Shaun Vickers, of Counties Manukau Police CIB, says a man was located and found in a critical condition at the address and despite the best efforts from first-aid responders, he died at the scene.
“Our enquiries have progressed in identifying a person of interest in this case, and a woman presented at the Manukau Police Station this [Wednesday] morning,” says Vickers.
“This woman has been spoken to and has now been charged with murder.”
Vickers says police are not seeking anyone else in relation to the death.
The 32-year-old woman is due to appear in the Manukau District Court tomorrow, May 8, on the murder charge, police say.
Vickers says the police investigation team is still completing some enquiries as part of the case.
“A scene examination has been completed, and a post-mortem has also been completed.
“This is no doubt an upsetting incident for all involved and we are pleased to have been able to bring a quick resolution to this investigation.”
As the matter is now before the court, police say they are unable to comment any further.
