Police have publicly released photos of a backpack, and its contents, located with a man found dead on Horotane Valley Road in Heathcote Valley, Christchurch, on Friday, September 19.

They say they appreciate all those who have come forward with information so far and continue to follow lines of enquiry where they become available, but unfortunately the man remains unidentified.

Police have enlisted the help of international law-enforcement agency Interpol in an effort to solve the mystery.

“When located he was wearing a black long-sleeve woolen jersey, black trousers and grey tramping boots.
