The police have referred a man’s death in east Auckland to the coroner.

A police spokesperson says officers responded to reports about concern for a person’s welfare after they failed to return to their home in Beachlands on the night of September 20.

“Police including search and rescue teams and the police’s Eagle helicopter were involved in searching for the man.

“He was sadly found deceased on September 21 at Pohutukawa Bay.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the coroner.

“Police’s thoughts and sympathies go out to the man’s family.”
