Two former New Zealand chess champions will battle it out in Howick next month.

Martin Dreyer and Ewen Green will go head to head in a six-game blitz chess match at Poppies Books in Picton Street on July 18.

Howick’s Paul Spiller, who is World Chess Federation (FIDE) Zone 3.6 President, said all are welcome to come and support on the day. It is World Chess Day on July 20.

“Ewen will also play a match blindfolded on the day,” said Spiller.
