East Aucklanders have a new outdoor craft and food market to check out.

The Flat Bush Market at Ormiston Town Centre is held under a purpose-built structure called ‘The Market’ and will be a regular event over the summer months, taking place every third Saturday from November to April.

It got under way on November 20 and will next be open on December 11.

The initiative is carefully managed to comply with Covid-19 restrictions.

Its opening day saw about 30 stallholders take part with numbers expected to grow as restrictions ease.

Todd Property Group, which developed the Ormiston Town Centre, included the open-air, multi-use space in its masterplan to provide an area to host community events and activities.

The space has so far been used for numerous town centre-related events.

Todd Property Group development manager Sean Leonard says with a regular market fixture, the vision for Ormiston Town Centre is nearly complete.

“The Market was created as the heart of the Ormiston community, one they can occupy and make their own.

“We’re excited to host the Flat Bush Market and look forward to hosting many more events and activities in this space, where the community can celebrate its unique cultural and community mix.”
