The Macleans College golf team had a repeat of their 2018 success in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Golf Competition which was played recently at the Cromwell Golf Course in Central Otago.

The team members, Jimmy Zheng (Hillary House), Vivian Lu (Batten), Jarrod Millar (Mansfield) and Henry Wang (Batten), had a combined handicap of +8. They won the 36 hole event with a score of 437, an impressive 10 shots clear of the runners up, Burnside High School.

There were 16 teams competing in the event. Each had to play a qualifying competition in their province. The competition was amongst the provincial champions to find the best secondary school golf team in New Zealand.

The successful weekend was also a personal triumph for Vivian Lu who won the individual competition.
