The children of Howick Kindergarten were fortunate to experience a gorgeous sunny day for their annual Bike-A-Thon, held on Sunday 21st March.

Many families from the Howick Kindergarten community came together on the grounds of local Owairoa Primary School for the action-packed event.

Head Teacher, Leonie Kelly said “Children completed 10 laps of the course in their respective age groups. The event not only provided a wonderful opportunity for the children and families to spend time together outside of kindergarten, but doubled as a fundraiser too.”

The Kindergarten ran a bake sale, a sausage sizzle and sold ice-blocks for the children to cool off after their races.

Families also sponsored their children for the event. These fundraising efforts assisted the Kindergarten in raising an impressive $1116.10, which will go towards the purchasing of new sandpit resources, and plants for the garden.

The Bike-A-Thon has been popular annual event for the kindergarten for several years now, and an event they hope to continue offering in the future.
