Police have launched a homicide investigation following a man’s death in south Auckland overnight.
Detective senior sergeant Simon Taylor of Counties Manukau Police says officers were called to Wymondley Road in Otara shortly before midnight after reports of a group of people fighting in the street.
“Upon arrival, two men were located with critical injuries,” he says.
“They were transported to hospital, however sadly, one man died a short time later.
“The second man remains in hospital in a serious condition.”
Taylor says police are working to establish the full circumstances of what’s occurred, and to locate those involved.
A scene examination will continue today, August 2, and cordons will be in place.
