Southside Streeter’s Hot Rod in Howick at the weekend was a great success.

It’s been seven years since the club, established in Howick 48 years ago, last put on a car show.

Show director Ian Neary said the club was very happy with the turnout with 20 per cent more people visiting than was budgeted for, with around 2000 people visiting.

“We had 32 cars in the show inside and a rolling car show outside with between 20 and 30 cars,” Neary said.

“The club was very happy to be supporting a charity in our local community and donated $5000 to St John.”

Smiles were obviously not optional. From left, Ian Neary, Steve Walker (St John), Kerry Earl (club president).

The winners of the show – sponsored by Ditron Precision Engineering – were:

People’s Choice, Llew Picton, 69 Chev Camaro; Sponsors Choice,  Neil Baker,  28 Ford Roadster; St Johns Choice,  Sean Williams, 33 Ford Roadster.
