Good rain nudges dam levels up

Heavy rain over the weekend has topped up the dams a little.

Watercare reports that 21.5mm of rain fell yesterday in the Hunua Ranges bringing the total for the past week to 57mm.

In the Waitakere Ranges 9.5mm of rain fell yesterday for a total 41mm in the past seven days.

The rain lifts the levels in the dams from 44.8 per cent to 45 per cent. Normal for this time of year is 78.43 per cent capacity.

Meanwhile water restrictions continue with the target daily usage for June 410 million litres or less a day. Yesterday’s consumption was 390m litres.
