Firefighters worked hard for more than four hours in yesterday’s stormy weather putting out a blaze that broke out in an unoccupied house in Pakuranga Heights.
When the Times visited the scene in Thursday evening’s heavy rain showers, thick smoke was billowing from the abandoned house on the corner of Ennis Avenue and La Trobe Street that has some scaffold fencing around its boundary.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson says it was “alerted to a fire at a derelict house in Pakuranga Heights around 4.15pm” on January 15.

They say crews and fire trucks and appliances from the stations of Howick, Mt Wellington, Otara, and the Auckland operational support unit responded.
“The fire was extinguished by 9pm,” says FENZ.
“Fire investigators were on the scene with police last night and are still working to determine the cause.”
