Death following Maraetai crash

Police have confirmed that one of the occupants injured in a serious crash in Maraetai last week has died.

“On Sunday night, a female occupant of the vehicle succumbed to her injuries at Auckland City Hospital,” police said.

“Our thoughts are with her friends and family at this difficult time.”

The second person injured in the crash remains in a stable condition in hospital.

The police investigation into the crash remains ongoing.

They are appealing for witnesses after the single-vehicle crash which was reported at around 2.10pm on Maraetai Drive, near Keanes Road in Maraetai on Thursday.

The road was closed until about 8:30pm.

Two ambulances, two rapid response units and a Westpac rescue helicopter were sent to the scene.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the blue Subaru vehicle just prior to the incident.
