The Botany-based coronavirus community testing centre has gone.

The community-based assessment centre (CBAC), which was stationed on Botany Road to test residents who, shut down at the end of July. The CBAC site, which was positioned in front of the Botany Downs Primary Birthing Unit next to East Care, caused significant traffic jams in the last two months.

East Care Group chief executive Gordon Armstrong told the Times East Care will continue to conduct Covid-19 testing from its 24-hour Botany Road clinic in Golflands as it had done throughout lockdown.

Armstrong said East Care was well-staffed and had very effective protocols in place,

New long-term community testing centres (CTCs) for Covid-19 are replacing the CBACs in Auckland. Auckland’s four PHOs are introducing more mobile testing units “to provide even easier testing”. The nearest one in this region is the Whanau Ora Community Clinic at 25 Druces Road, Wiri.

It opens from 8am-3pm from Monday to Friday and provides drive-through or walk-in services.
