Young Zontian gets a standing ovation in Brisbane

Sara Khatau, Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs International Scholarship winner (2017), received  a standing ovation as she spoke at the Zonta Australia and New Zealand Centennial Anniversary Conference in Brisbane on Friday.

Sara spoke about her vision for young women in New Zealand and the challenges ahead to continue to make changes to benefit not only women but society as a whole.

Sara was also involved in a panel of four young women who addressed the full conference of more than 750 Zontians and guests, including Zonta International President Dr Susanne von Bassewitz.

The former Macleans College student also had an opportunity to meet Ms Bassewitz, and the keynote speaker, New Zealander Dame Therese Walsh.

Dr von Bassewitz developed the `Say no to violence against women’ campaign which has grown since its launch in 2012.

Zonta is an organisation of professionals and business leaders with 29,000 members in 63 countries working together to improve lives of women and girls.
