Local retailing icon Peter Campbell died “very suddenly but peacefully” on Friday. He was 89.
Peter and Margaret Campbell owned Campbells Toys in Moore St which became Campbells Toyworld and then Campbells Toys and Crafts which was situated in Picton St, Howick.
“For 33 years they loved being there for the local and wider community. Many will reminisce their times visiting the toy shop and Peter,” a family member said.
“His family is deeply sad, with many member stuck overseas, not able to attend because of Covid.
“It would be lovely for the family to be able to reconnect with former staff and work colleagues of Peter and former regular customers for reminiscing.”
A celebration of his life is to be held on Friday (April 9) at 1 pm at Manukau Memorial Gardens.
