Four guidelines changes have been made to boating under level 3.

Coastguard New Zealand has issued a notification to the Auckland public on boating guidelines for alert level 3.1.

The changes, under modified level 3 guidelines announced last week by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, are:

  • All boating activities should be limited to people from the same household.
  • All outdoor recreational activities must be completed in one day.
  • You cannot travel in the same vehicle as people from other households.
  • You can only travel to Waiheke Island or Great Barrier Island if you are a resident on either of the islands. It is not permitted to berth, anchor off the coast or land on the two islands.

“Remember the air, sea and road boundaries between Auckland the rest of New Zealand, including the Alert Level 3 area in Waikato, remains in place,” Coastguard NZ said.

Coastguard Maraetai echoed these rules on social media.

“Enjoy the water and stay safe,” Coastguard Maraetai said.
