This year marked the 45th year of the NZ Polo Open.

The BMW NZ Polo Open which was scheduled for Sunday February 20 has been canned.

BMW NZ Polo Open executive director Lucy Ainsley is disappointed they have had to pull the plug on this year’s fixture, the 45th year of the NZ Polo Open.

“We have had to make the heart-breaking decision to cancel the BMW NZ Polo Open 2022,” said Ainsley.

“With the current Red Traffic Light settings under the Government Covid-19 protection framework, the growing case numbers and a lack of certainty of the weeks ahead, we feel this is the best decision for everyone involved.”

The BMW NZ Polo Open is hosted by the Auckland Polo Club, established in 1883 and NZ’s largest polo club.

“The Health & Safety of our partners, suppliers, polo players, attendees and staff is our number one priority. We are now looking towards our 2023 event and are delighted to announce a date has been set for Sunday February 19, 2023.”
