It was always going to be a tough encounter and that’s what it proved to be.

Bucklands Beach Association Football Club (BBAFC) recently took on powerhouse Eastern Suburbs AFC in a Chatham Cup round-two match at Rogers Park in Bucklands Beach.

BBAFC plays in the NRFL Div2 while Eastern Suburbs is in the Northern League, two leagues above.

The several hundred supporters of both teams who turned out to catch the action were treated to a fast-paced game.

Eastern Suburbs AFC enjoyed much of the ball possession and managed to convert it into five goals.

Eastern Suburbs made the most of its scoring opportunities and won 5-0, including a hat-trick to Eber Ramirez.

The match was the 200th First Team appearance for BBAFC player Josh Smith.

Club president Rachel Penney says they honoured Smith prior to the game with a specially embroidered playing shirt and presented him with a framed shirt and embroidered cap at the post-match celebrations.
