Avid golfer Barbara Hall has just celebrated her 90th birthday at Pakuranga Golf Club.

She and her late husband were career teachers who taught in country and city schools.

For many years Hall held senior positions as supervisor of junior school and then went on to become principal.

She started nine hole golf 17 years ago with a group of beginners who mostly still play twice a week at Pakuranga Golf Club.

The club’s nine hole ladies secretary Barbara Clent says that as well as golf, Hall is a keen tramper, having completed the major tramps in the South Island and many in the North as well.

“She is an all-weather golfer, still hitting a good straight ball and enjoying her golf.   She is a reserved and determined lady with great inner strength,” says Clent.

“Well done Barbara. You are an inspiration to us all.
