UPDATED: Baker returned as Franklin ward councillor

Incumbent Franklin ward Auckland councillor Andy Baker has been elected for another term.

In Auckland Council Election Day Progress Results today, Baker had secured a decisive victory with 9289 votes.

Challenging candidates Dene Green and Les Thomas came second and third respectively.

Baker has told the Times: “I’m incredibly happy and humbled to have such a result, not just personally, but for my Team Franklin colleagues on the local board.

“Also want to acknowledge all the candidates, in particular Dene and Les.

“This coming three years is going to be incredibly important and require some tough decisions and political courage, so I’m really looking forward to continuing with Mayor Wayne Brown on continuing the change that started three years ago.”

Franklin ward Auckland Council election Progress Result, on Saturday, October 11:

1 – Andy Baker (Team Franklin) 9289 votes

2 – Dene Green (ACT Local) 3675

3 – Les Thomas (Independent) 2730

Preliminary results will be announced on Monday, October, which include ballots cast today Saturday.

Final Auckland Council election results are released by Friday, October 17.
