The school pest free project is a first in Auckland and here’s an opportunity to learn about why and how residents can be pest trapping in your backyards.

Howick Local Board and Auckland Council will provide:

  • A free rat trap to take home to use in the backyard for the duration of the project
  • A demonstration of how to set/unset the traps and give residents a chance to practice
  • Advice on placing traps at home and disposal of the pests caught
  • Instructions on how to record pest programme data

“You will pilot what is to be a city-wide collaborative effort towards the vision of Pest Free Auckland and help bring back biodiversity to your gardens,” a spokesperson said.

Wednesday October 30, 7.30- 8.30pm (tea, coffee and networking from 7pm), at Somerville Intermediate School hall, 39 Somerville Road,

Presenters Niklas Erikson, Cate Jessep, Rishika Chopara (members of Auckland Council Biosecurity, Sustainable Schools Teams and University of Auckland CatchIT).
