Pohutukawa Coast Trails (PCT) is an aspirational plan of inter-connecting pathways throughout the Pohutukawa Coast area.

With a goal to connecting communities, the objective is to have a network of pathways linking the Pohutukawa Coast, Whitford and Clevedon.

The PCT group was an initiative started by the Franklin Local Board (FLB) to look at the possibility of having a network of pathways linking communities.

The initial steering group was chaired by the FLB  with participants from the Pohutukawa Coast Community Association, Pohutukawa Coast Rotary, Pohutukawa Coast Bike Club, the Historical Society and the Beachlands Maraetai Pony Club.

Over the last 18 months, the PCT group successfully created a plan that has been adopted by the FLB and will be considered prior to future land developments in the area.

PCT is now going to be run as a sub-committee under the local Rotary Club Trust and this next stage of PCT will be launched officially at a Rotary meeting on November 9 at PepperJacks at Pine Harbour at 6pm.

The Rotary Club of Pohutukawa is looking for interested people to join the committee or to get involved with different projects.

If you have a certain area of interest or skills, with regard to community trails, and live in the Pohutukawa Coast area, please contact Alex Garden: admin@netinsites.com
