It’s an exciting month for local artist Tracey Coakley who has just opened her group art exhibition Perspective-five female artist at Railway Street Studios in Newmarket.

The mother-of-three lives in Howick and is getting back into painting and exhibiting.

The collaborative exhibition also features work from Belinda Griffiths, Jacqueline Fahey, Sylvia Siddell and Jacqueline Macleod.

Gallery owner Fiona Cable said the exhibition was created to champion female painters and bring attention to figurative painting.

“Each of these female artists, in the early, middle or late stages of their art practices, have embraced figuration, diversified it and pushed the conversation around it forward. With experiences and personal reflections that span the 20th and 21st century, this collection of work speaks to the past, present and future.”

The exhibition is open until Tuesday, March 14.
